Dr. Kimberly Garvey
Dr. Kimberly Garvey knows what it takes to be a champion: Then known as Kim Richards, she was on the Mother McAuley High School State Champion Volleyball team in 2004-2005 AND captained the Lewis University to three Conference Championships!
She brings that same passion, work ethic, energy, and commitment to excellence to our patients!
Dr. Garvey grew up in Evergreen Park, graduated from Mother McAuley High School and Lewis University and completed her Optometric studies at the Illinois College of Optometry in May, 2015 after she had interned in Denver CO and in Lexington KY in the areas of pediatrics and ocular disease.
From a young age, Dr. Garvey loved eyes, She knew that optometry was the career for her when she learned that, through eye exams, she would not only be able to help people see, but also identify potential health risk factors and, in extreme cases, save lives.
She excels at creating a fun atmosphere for kids to enjoy their eye health exams and is passionate about building lifelong relationships with patients. One of the reasons she’s excited about being part of the Gardner Eye Care Family is that many of our patients have been with us their whole life—20, 30, 40, 50 years!
Dr. Garvey married Tom Garvey, her college sweetheart in July, 2015. The two had played volleyball at Lewis University.
In her free time, Dr. Garvey enjoys the creative outlets of photography, ceramics, fashion, art museums, and theater, especially musicals. She has volunteered with Catholic Charities and One Sight and still plays volleyball when she can! Her favorite pastime, however, is hanging out with her family and friends…just being together!
